I know yall are so tired of my whining about the rain so let me tell ya......Saturday and Sunday were wonderful! The sun finally started shining about noon on Saturday and it has been absolutely wonderful since. The fall temps are finally here and I can't believe the difference in how I feel just with a weather change. Last week it was hard to even get out of bed, today I got up, am dressed and ready to get outside!
I worked on Saturday, we had a Chick-fil-A booth at a school festival, and although I was missing Jacob's baseball game, it was so nice to be out there. We were busy, busy all day and the time passed so quickly it was time to leave before we knew it. I did go and watch 1 1/2 ballgames after I was done so it really wasn't bad missing the first 1 1/2!
Sunday was baseball again at noon and it was sooo nice sitting out there. They lost their game so they were one and done (which really wasn't a bad thing!)! The fair is in town so one of my besties and I took off to walk around the fair, then had a Martina McBride concert last night. It was such a fun, relaxing day and just what I needed!
I hope you had great weather and a great weekend, it does wonders for your attitude!!
Hope you all have a GREAT week!

Mother Nature is Messing With Us!!
The sun is shining brightly outside, I am so excited. I just went to my car to get something, as I was walking by the tv, I see a weather advisory in the corner. "Flash Flood Warning" until 5:30. Thank goodness it is for counties north of us. As far as I know, it's not going to rain here!! Yay!
I know I sound like a broken record, but I am soooo tired of rain. It has rained here for 9 days straight, with just a hint of sunshine for a few minutes yesterday afternoon, then thunderstorms this morning. The sun is very bright right now, but no, I'm not getting excited, no, not me. I will wait for the forecast on the news before I get excited. Seriously, it is SUPPOSED to get nicer in the next couple of days.
I'm looking forward to all this rain making the leaves change colors and be bright and beeeeautiful in October. We are planning a short trip to the Smokey Mts. in October so hopefully, it will be worth all the torture that we've been through for the last week to see God's hand at work creating the beauty that only He could create.
Hope your weather is nice and bright!
Vicki
UPDATE:
Ok, just watched the weather forecast, rain everyday until Sunday. Fun Fun!

Same Ole.....Same Ole
Well, this weekend has been "same ole, same ole" weather that it seems like we've had forever. Rain, rain and more rain. The sun did shine for a little while this afternoon, but I really think it was just a teaser. It is supposed to be rainy all week again, I think.
I really didn't do anything this weekend that was productive. In fact, the only thing that I can say I did this weekend was sleep. I cannot remember that last time I stayed in bed until 12:30, but I did that today. I haven't felt really "up to par" this week and I guess my body was just tired. I don't feel bad enough to say I'm sick, but also don't feel well enough to be 100% either. I have worked all week, but really wasn't into it.
I hope you are having some sunny weather where you are and if you're having the rain there, I hope we all get it out of our area soon.
Have a sunny week, I'm hoping to have a little more sun than rain this week,
Vicki

Ready for some sunshine!!
I don't know about where you are, but it's been raining for days here. It doesn't rain all day, but off and on all day and night. It has done this now for about 5 days and it needs to stop!! The problem is........it's not supposed to clear up until about mid week next week. I don't know if I will make it that long! As you all know by now, I'm ready for fall weather and we are supposed to have cooler temps when the rain stops but now it is so muggy out. The temps are not so bad, but add in the humidity and it's awful. Now don't get me wrong, I love a rainy day, but my goodness, it's time for it to stop.
How about you, do you like rainy days? Rainy days and Mondays always get me down! Not really, but thought I'd just throw that in. Hope you're having better weather where you are!
Have a good rest of the week,
Vicki

Just hangin in the wind
I know it looks like this leaf is falling, but it's not! Jacob and I were outside on Labor Day and he pointed and said "look Grammy". I was looking all around and couldn't decide what he was talking about until he pointed at the leaf. It was "just hangin" there. I know there had to be some kind of "web" or something to hold it to the tree, but it truly was invisible. We stood and watched for a while while it did nothing :), you would have thought we were waiting for it to do tricks or something! I thought about that leaf several times during the day, of course, it did eventually fall, but I would catch myself thinking about it and think about how such little things can amuse us. I guess God uses different ways to entertain us.
I'm still waiting for fall weather to arrive here in north Mississippi. I always get so anxious aboaut this time of year, it seems like the cool crisp temps will never get here.
On another not so pleasant note, please don't forget to say a quick prayer for the families of the 9/11 victims. I'll never forget how eerie things were that day with the sky empty and quiet, we live real close to the airport so LOTS of planes fly over our area.
What were you doing when you first heard the news?
Have a great weekend,
Vicki

A Very Important Anniversary!!
Today is the anniversary of Cindy's LAST Chemo treatment. This is a picture of her first (I think) or maybe second treatment. She had such a good attitude from the very beginning of this journey.
This is Cindy at her last treatment one year ago today. She actually was a little (ok alot) teary because on your last treatment, they sing to you, you ring the bell and a really big deal is made of that. The people at West Clinic in Memphis are WONDERFUL.
It doesn't seem like it could have been a whole year since her last treatment, it has really passed fast. She actually had radiation until late December, but that was nowhere near what the chemo treatments were.
I am so proud of her. Not only has she beat cancer, in July, 2007, she and my then 9 yr old grandson moved in with us from an abusive marriage. She went back to school in August to finish her degree to teach. In May, 2008, she was diagnosed with hodgkins disease. I was so amazed at her strength through the diagnois, test and treatment. When her dr. would tell her what he wanted to do, she would always look at him and say "let's do it, there's no need to wait". Do you know how hard it is to sit in a room and watch your child, (no matter how old) get a bone marrow test? Let me tell you, it's HARD. She received the call on a Wednesday night that it was definitely hodgkins, was in the oncologist office on Friday, went back on Monday for all the results and had her first chemo on Tuesday. It was a week or so later before the portacath was put it. I have to say, the port was the one thing she complained about the most. It came out as soon as the dr. said it was ok.
Ok, back to my story, after having treatments all summer, she went back to school in August, 2008, only to still be in treatment until Sept, then radiation until December. She went to school on Monday thru Wednesday nights, she would get her treatment on Thursday so she would be ok for school on Monday. Then after chemo was over, went everyday to get readiation while going to school also.
She is on track to graduate from Ole Miss (go Rebs), in December 2010. I am so looking forward to that day for her. I'm not sure there will be enough kleenex to hold the tears, I get teary eyed now just thinking about what she has accomplished! Please pray that she will continue to be cancer free and also know that we give God all the glory for healing her!
Happy Anniversary Cindy, I love you!!
